I’m swapping a 6.0 into my blazer, I’d like to run a ford np 205 because I have a ford Dana 60 that I’d like to swap in as well. The 6.0 has a 4L80E and I like the idea of overdrive. I’m sure you guys have seen this before, any help or comments are welcome thanks

Hey Nick, welcome!

Are you asking how to mate a Ford NP205 and a GM 4L80E together?

If that's your question, did the 4L80E come from a 4WD or 2WD application?

Is the Ford NP205 setup as a divorced or married unit?

Not to mention mounting Ford Dana-60 to a GM frame, custom trans cross member, custom driveshafts, custom exhaust. Should be an easy weekend job.

Seriously ,unless it's a dedicated rock crawler I'd just run the Tcase that came with the trans. The modern transfer cases are every bit as strong as the 205. They just don't take bouncing off rocks as well.
If your d60 is a 78-79 I think it's nearly a bolt in deal.
Then all you have to worry about is the cross member.

And the low range is way better

My transmission is the 4wd one and was thinking of using the married 205, just seeing what it takes to marry it to the 4L80, I could use the transfer case that is on it, it’s also a driver side drop,

They had factory 4l80/205 combos. But it was like 1 or 2 years, and I'm not sure what besides an input shaft swap, you'd have to do to the Ford 205. Input shaft would be minimum. Then finding the adapter/mount that goes between them.
If you have the Tcase on the trans still, that would be the easiest and cheapest way to go.
It's actually expensive to get what you need to mount a GM 205 to a 4l80 from what I found.

Welcome,
There was gentleman who did rebuilt np205s advertising on Craigslist, he was in Chino CA. I do not see his adds in that area anymore.
I spoke with him at his shop 1 day and he had all the 4l80e to np205 info.
I think he said they moving to the north west, I want to say Idaho.

I think the factory 4L80-205 combo was 1991 only in a V3500 pickup. Mine is a manual with the round pattern 205. My 1991 Suburban has the 4L80 but those came with a NP241. Both passenger drop anyway but with the round pattern t-cases the adapter might work with a driver drop case. Did Ford use a round pattern 205 at all? No clue on the splines for the driver drop stuff.

Apart from the brute strength of a gear driven 205 the NP241 has a lot of upsides.

Is that a kingpin Ford D60 or a super duty ball joint one? 2 different animals.

ORDs convertible K30 uses a Ford 205 with a Ford 60 and a TH400, pretty sure the 400/205 adapter is the same as a 4L80 adapter…maybe call ORD and run it by them

My Dana 60 is a ball joint one , I got a good deal on it. I’d love to get a magnum box, might try to squeeze it into my budget, it’ll solve my problem. Thanks for the information.

I have one of those axles in my stash too. The leaf spring ones have the pads really wide and you will need to outboard your spring perches to use it in a square. Probably need to run a shallow backspacing wheel with a big tire. The coil ones can be tough to set up since they have brackets for radius arms.

Advance Adapters makes an easy kit to swap the transmission and transfer case together.

We'd need details on your axle but any of the '99+ Ford axles are going to be a pretty big hurdle to swap into your truck.
