I have a 350/350/208. auto locking hubs..

I put the Tcase in 4 hi or 4 lo.. and.. still only power to the rear wheels...

the Front driveshaft spins.. I'm thinking its the auto locking hubs ?

How hard is it to replace the automatic hubs with manual?

if thats my problem.

It's not hard at all. I would recommend doing it. Warn Premium hubs are the way to go because they're all metal. The most annoying part is getting that outer ring off the old hubs. I use two small screwdrivers but sometimes it gets aggravating. Some guys say that they leave them off their manual hubs but I always put them back. When you put the new hubs on, you may notice that it seems like the end of the stub shaft isn't sticking out quite far enough to put the c-clip in the groove. If this happens, just reach behind the caliper backing plate and pull out on the stub shaft at the part where the u-joint is. That will make the shaft pop out enough to put the clip on.

Oh and when you order your hubs, you may have to get some little adapters to make them work. It's according to what style hubs you have and I think it goes by the year. If you need the little adapters, I have a brand new pair still in the box. :deal:

this is a very easy job and i recomend you get your self like a small ice pick or scribe with a strait end and a bent end to get that ring out that andy was talkin bout

Come to think of it, you're right. The stock piece will come out much easier with something that has a hook on it because it has a curved end on one end (or maybe both ends are curved). The replacement Warn spring is flat. Good point.

It's been a while since I ditched my auto hubs, but it seems like I had to squeeze the spring together to get it to come out (?). :dunno: Anyway, seems like it was the opposite of what I thought it should be.

the ring sits in a grove in the hub so i think its easiest to get something with a really fine pointed hook or curved to get behind it and pull it up out of the groove there is almost no way to squeeze it together ive had my hub torn apart like 6 times in the past 3 days

ok smokey im just going to make it easy for ya
take the 6 alans heads out
pop the auto hub cap off with flat head screwdriver
pull snap ring out with some sort of pic as andy and i discussed
manual locking hubs will come with a big meatal piece that goes over the shaft then a spring with a gear that go inside it then wiggle that whole assembly in place and put your manual locking cap on

alright.. thank you guys for the help! Im just waiting on a little more $$ so i can buy my hubs..
and IDK if i will need the "adaptors" or whatever?

It's an 81 chevy blazer. 350/350/208.

yea the metal piece that i was talkin bout that goes over the shaft is the "adaptor" i believe youll have to look for hubs that come with it you might need a "kit" which would just be the adaptor and caps i suggest you go with warn when you get the money

Like I said, I have the kit. I ordered it with my hubs but I didn't need it for my '85. PM me if you want them.

The Warn Premiums ain't cheap. I think they're like $100, but they're worth it. I have just the Warn standard hubs and they were about $70 (I think), but the piece that you turn is plastic, so it could potentially break if you hit something with it. They turn really smoothly though. Like way better than any factory Jeep or Toyota hub I've ever turned.

I have seen quite a few front drive shafts with worn out splines as well. Just one more thing you might want to check while you're at it.
