Hi everyone I need alittle help I got 88 gmc jimmy sierra Classic and I was playing in the snow yesterday and I never used the 4wd since I bought it but when I put it in 4wd hi and I give it gas the rear right wheel goes backwards and the all the other wheels go forwards it's just a simple 10 bolt it's got 4.88 gears in the front and back and I can't understand why it does that the wheel just goes the opposite way and the back of my blazer bounces but when I drop it back into 2 hi it works just as normal it seems I got a big problem please help thanks everyone

what type of transfer case ?

203 ? 208 ?

need to have someone watch the drive shafts when this happens....see if they turn the same way in 2 wheel drive and then in 4 wheel drive...

May be something like a frozen planatary in the transfer case that makes the rear driveshaft turn the wrong way only when its engaged in 4 wheel drive...

a 205 is gear driven so I cant see that happening with one of those.....

it would almost have to be something wrong in the transfer case.... locked or broken spider gears in the rear axle would act the same all the time....

So the right rear tire goes backwards but all other tires, including the left rear tire, go forward?

Mechanically, I don't see how that can happen. There must be something else going on. That would have to be an issue with the rear end. But it should do it in 2wd also. Need some video of it.

Yes the right rear tire goes backwards and left rear tire goes forward only in 4wd but when in 2wd it works fine
