4WheelParts

I bought a pair of 42" swampers from them about a year ago and also bought their no questions asked warrenty . I have yet to use this warrenty but from what I have read and heard I might as well pound sand if I have any problems . .

you shouldn't have a problem with them replacing any of those tire. I tore a sidewall back in august and took it in and they replaced it for free. BUT the catch is the tire has to have 50% or more thread and you have to pay for taxes, mounting, and a new warrenty on that 1 tire but only a persentage. so I basicly paid $56 out the door for a 36" swamper.

but back to 4wheelparts the only time I buy from them is from the warehouse in compton and I better make sure I hava a partnumber for what I want.

Check it out, now they charge for shipping from their wharehouse to the store.:shame:

i think its simply awesome that a vendor on a 4x4 site is badmouthing another vendor. shows you've got alot of class. guess who i wont be buying from, nor recomending for future purchases? well, besides 4WheelParts...

I do have an old 42" swamper that has a lug ripped out of it  maybe I will try and warrenty it :wink1: .

dont bother. i had a swamper split down the center, about 18" long. you couldnt see the belts yet, but it worried me to drive on it. took it to the 4WP i bought it from, they said it was cosmetic. blamed it on my fender cutting into it(which it didnt,I couldnt make the fender come into contact with that section if i wanted it to). so basically they told me wait until its completly splitting open and ready to blow, then they'll replace it.

I totally agree with that. Every time I go by one of the 4WP stores we have here in town, the garage is filled with brand new, off the showroom floor Ford Super Duty's and Dodge Cumminings Deisels; owned by people who only know how to put fuel into it, turn the key, and step on the throttle.

Cumminings? thats a new one to me:p:

After working for Sears Automotive, selling tires, for a few years, I learned the game that many retail tires stores play and why. There are two types of warranties...(1) Factory Warranty, and (2) Road Hazard Warranty. A factory warranty is provided by the tire manufacture for free. It only covers manufacture defects, which is actually pretty rare. A road hazard warranty is provided by the retail store selling the tire for a fee. It covers damage done to a tire cause by a sudden and traumatic event. It does not cover mis-aligned vehicles, which slowly damages a tire over time.

Getting a tire replaced under a factory warranty is almost impossible. The reason is because there is a lot of paper work involved, and the tire has to be shipped back to the manufacture for a credit. Most store managers will go to any length to avoid doing this.

Getting a tire replaced under a road hazard warranty is much easier. There is not much paper work to it, and the tire is discarded. The only problem is that most retail store managers will not warranty the tire under a road hazard warranty, until the tire in question no longer holds air. This is an unspoken store policy, which a store manager will never admit to.

So my advice, when buying a tire from a retail store is, buy a road hazard warranty. And if it is damaged, but still holding air, put a knife through the sidewall, and claim you ran over some glass. They may suspect, and even try to intimidate you by claiming it has been vandalized, but if you stand your ground, and insist it was some glass you ran over, in the end they will they will give-in and replace it.

I hear ya . my 42" swamper has 1 big lug ripped out all the way to the inner casing . look's like something just took a big bite out of the tire ( can you say ROCKS ). I'm going to try it just to see if they will do it . I have some chunks taken out of the ones I bought from them and a gash to the 1st cord but it still hold air so they won't warrenty it till I put something through it . I can see where they would warrenty a $200 tire but a $320 they lose more money .

dude, everyone in the universe knows that 4 wheel parts stores suck large arse and have a crappy reputation so, so what if there an ill word or two about 4wp. atleast he's letting everyone know about the aditional shipping charge they should not be charging. there NOT a vendor here and i doubt anyone really cares who says what about 4WP. I sued them and won because of there not honering a written price guarantee. that the kind of crap they try and pull so they get what they deserve.

I won a gift cert from them a few months back at a raffle and i keep trying to buy **** from them but everytime i call and ask they either hang up or put me on hold till i hang up, guess i have to drive down to la to use it??

LA is the closest? If you know exactly what you want from them, I can pick it up for you and deliver at TDS.

I'm curious, did they charge you for reclamation/disposal of your old tires?

mine was only a buck20. 33"ltb. i like the idea of just knifing it. i think i would use a hatchet or framing hammer to kinda rough it up,maybe shove a tree branch thru the hole & tell them it was offroad damage.

never had a problem

exxcept that they wouldnt ship to different addy than my billing.

I never had any real problems with them. I've had to show them adds to get the "Low Price Guarantee" but most places do that, both inside and outside the automotive industry.

i agree 4wparts sux

i don't feel like describing my bad experiences, but they did say my 1972 k5 was "obsolete" and no longer in thier books. after i realized what is on the internet, i've never been back.
