New Idea

Ok, I just had a new Idea just a while back. Before I go through the trouble of converting my suburban to four wheel drive, maybe I should make shure what I'm putting on it works first! It's starting to get nice out side and I just relized, you know, I have a convertable truck (1975 K5 that is). hummm, I could get this thing running and drive it around while i'm going to school, it's not like i'm going to convert it over to the 64 the week after schools out, and I would get to check everything out and make shure every thing is working before I convert it over. Insurance is not that expensive and it would be well worth titleing and paying for the registration. The only thing is it's a 75, would it have to go though marta and pass inspection? That would probalby be the only thing that could stop me from doing it, besides it costing to much.

Might be best...

Maybe it would pay to use the K5 awhile and enjoy the convertible top!...after all, while your out riding in it,you may stumble across another old suburban, only a 4X4 this time!..it would be nice to find a "donor" your 64's body would drop right on,BEFORE you'd swapped a K5's guts under it,now wouldn't it?...

your emissions and inspection questions would be more easily answered by checking the DOT of your state, or something like that. There's also a "regional members" board on this site which might provide some laws (i know there's a "sticky" post for oregon on the Pacific board.)

Ok, it seems to me that every time I have ever had a conversation with someone about when the cut off for marta is, they allways give some late 70's year, then about a minuet later they say, "What! NO NO, it's early 70's I think!", and it never fails thats allways the answer I get. Well today in class I asked someone when is the cut off date for marta, and he said, "What's marta?", and I was like you know the place you get your car inspected, and he said, " I have never heard of marta," So anyways, I figured out since I live in Nashville you have to go through marta, but pretty much anywere else in the state, you don't have to go through emissions, and since I don't live in Nashville currently I can get my trucks registration out of town here if I want too. Problem solved, well at least I hope, i'm almost positive it won't go so smoothly though,

But yeah, I definitly think it's a good idea, there is no since in spending the time building the suburban with bad parts, I need to test them out first, with the top off, hehe

I only have one problem thought now, I'm afraid I'm going to love it and wont be able to use if for parts.
