4x4 axle info

Maybe someone here will know the answer to this question cause no one else seems to know.

Whats the difference between a 73-87 1/2 ton (73-91 burb & blazer) 10 bolt 4x4 rear axle and the 88-98?
The reason why i ask this is, i need a rear axle for my k5 and can't find a rear diff for 73-87 with the gears i need, but there is plenty around for 88-98.

The wheel studs are metric on the 88+ axles, but I am not sure about the spring perch differences, & yokes. Your best bet is to find a 6 lug 14bolt sf from a 88+ light 3/4 ton truck.

I know the front axles went from 28 to 30 spline about that time, dunno about the rears.
