Big trucks,puny motors....

I have seen several C-60 chevy's with 250 and 292 sixes in them!--and the older 2-1/2 ton trucks and school busses used 235 and 261 cubic inch six cylinder engines,I rode to school in a 1961 GMC bus with a 261 and a clark 5 speed in it for a few years--I was always waiting for the rods to come out the side of the block, the wayhe bus driver would wind it out thru the gears!--but it never blew up,despite his best efforts!

Its amazing what a dinky 6 cylinder engine can move when its geared low enough!--My dad barrowed a bucket truck from the gas and electric company he worked for to plow our drivway after the blizzard of 78,it was a 1972 C-60 with a 292-6,a 5 speed tranny with a 3 speed auxillary tranny, and pushed huge drifts of snow right up over the hood, until we couldnt see out the windsheild!--it didnt seem to be straining too hard to do it either!--tire chains on the dual rear wheels, and lots of weight in the bed of the truck helped at lot--I was only 18 then, but I remember that like it was yesterday....
