So when I put my 205 in low and romp on it the shifted gets pretty much stuck and you have to mess with a lot to get back into 2wd. It does it in high also but not as bad. Have any one of you guys had this problem before how can I fix it? Thanks!:thumb:

Do you back it up a foot or so when changing between tc selections? That may help also, does on mine.

Clean and lube linkage, make sure its tight, loose enough to work smoothly but not loose enough to have a lot of play.

Make sure the mounts haven't loosened up also. Try to shift out and in on level ground and backing up a little helps mine also.

Mine did this over the weekend. Finally got it out by shifting the t-case while in reverse.

if the drivetrain is bound up from the front tires being turned, or driving on a hard surface, thats normal. all of my 205's (or any geardrive t-case)have done that.
drive straight a little, maybe back and forth some. then it will loosen up the tension.
also there isnt much linkage to lube on a 205.

It's common for it to get bound up after turning while in 4wd. Sometimes it's easier to unlock the hubs first, sometimes it's easier to shift into 2wd first. Just make sure your linkage is not bent or anything too.

Not a lot to lube, but if you have the stock linkage that goes to both shifting rods, if it is loose or clogged with dirt it creates difficulty with shifting. Twin sticked is a little more tolerant of grime. Once I tightened up my stock linkage it shifted smoother and easier.

I also unlocked the hubs first, then moved the truck around and put the tranny in neutral. If it was really stuck I have even shut the truck off in neutral and let it cost to ease up shifting the tcase to neutral.

my process is.....

forward and backup in a strait line. Go unlock hubs first. Tcase usually pops right back into 2wd.

If I don't unlock the hubs first, it's not going into 2wd.

I used to have to back up and pull the shifter into 2wd as I let off the gas to get my 74 GMC's NP-205 out of 4wd often..I found it slipped right out easy when you had goosed it in reverse, and yanked on the shifter just as you let off the gas,it unloads the torque on the T-case gears..otherwise you'd be hard pressed to get it to go back into 2wd--I actually sheared the pivot bolt for the shifter off in the adapter before I learned how to "un-shift" it right!..:doah:..
