woohoo! Just got off the phone with Bobby over at CCOR (pirate vendor guy) and put in my order for yukon 5.13s for both my D60 and ff14b. I'm gonna have to wait a few weeks on the ff14b ones, they are on backorder... but I got a good price on the whole package. $299 shipped. woohoo! My 700R4 is gonna be happy. lol!  :cool1:

this may be a dumb question to ask now... but there is only one detroit for the ff14b right? I am changing out the 4.56+ carrier for a 4.10- carrier so I can run the more common/cheaper "thick" gears....

j

It looks like there is only one. The detroit part number is a 225S10. Here is the link to the pdf file from detroit. You may have to right click it and save to open. Right click on the link that says: "Light Truck and Performance Model list." It is on page 8. Read the note at the bottom. Hope this helps.

detroit locker

i just made the switch you are about to make. the detroit will move over to the new carrier with zero issues. you will need also need ring gear bolts from the 4.10 unit you are using. bboy

yeah, i have a yukon master install kit... pretty sure it has new ring gear bolts n such. Yukon doesnt even make "thin" 5.13s I don't think, so they oughta be the right length...

Awesome, good price too!

Do you think you could post up a pic of the 2 pinions (old and new) side by side to get a comparison? I'm debating between a 3:1 in the 203 range box or a gear swap. Thanks!

I have a pic of my gear swap in my front 10b between 3.08's and 4.88's. The pinion is small compared to the 3.08's, its scarry

i could do that... if I can remember, lol! its gonna be a couple of months before I swap them.

You'll love your 5.13's w/ those 39's. The only thing I hate about the 14b f/f is that the shortest gear you can get is 5.13s. I'm gonna be running 42s in the next year or so and I wanna run shorter gears cuz I love the ratio I have w/ my 38.5s and 5.13s ...I'll have to run a d70 in the back to get the shorter gears :( :( :(

Do you have a doubler?

not at the moment. At some point I'll probably get a 241-planetary-based Klune-type box. There are a couple of small manufactures working on these... only a matter of time until they are out. Nuttin against the 203, but an aluminum klune type thing would be lighter, plenty strong , lower gears, and be cable shifted. ;)

damn that was fast!!!! got the D60 gears today, check 'em out!

Bobby over at CCOR is a really cool guy. When I called in my order he was driving (to work I guess) and he pulled over, found a pen in the glove box and took all my info down. Gave me the straight scoop on the ff14b gears being on backorder, billed me for the D60 gears and I had them at my house within 48 hours. Talk about speedy! I figured that since I was getting such a good price that the gears would be coming via slow as hell parcel post or something. Did I mention I got them for $75 less than 4wpw charges for POS genuine gears?

Thanks

CCOR: np buddy, thx for the gr8 service!

KS: no, of course not. I already had the master install kits... a guy was doing a discount on cryo treating stuff, so I got the master install kits first. I wanted to cryo the bearings etc. Anyway... the actual r&p for the ff14b is the last part of the puzzle...just gotta wait for 'em to come in.
