Look for header options for 5.3 in my '87 K5. Ideas?

I have a set of Doug thorleys on mine. Look for a f body camaro, they hug the block well and might clear the shackles.

What year camaro? Or just as long as it is a f body? Also what year is your truck?

street and performance makes LS Swap headers that fit like a champ. thats what I've got on my LQ4.

For long tube headers go with Schoenfeld 1302LS1 part number. I just got mine this week from Jegs for $282 shipped on ebay. They are a perfect fit on these square bodies with LS engines. I actually came up with that part number on my own and then finally found a youtube video that confirmed it before I ordered.

Here is the youtube video to give full credit where it is due

My setup is a 77 K5 with LM7 5.3L, hydraulic 32 spline sm465, and 203/205 doubler. The longer transmission and extra case definitely help give some more room between the front output and the collector connection but it shoul work with shorter combinations too.

Very Nice and thank you for the answers. Post some pictures up. With this I would put the LS back in the running for the K5. Right now it has a brand new GM crate 350 4 bolt in it, but my thought is get it running with the Gen I, work out some of the bugs (never had it on the road) and then update motor.

Neighbor has a totaled '13 Camaro SS sitting in his garage. Back half of the car destroyed. Yum, Yum 6.2 here we come.

There is a pro/con with the Schoenfelds. Pro is price is fairly reasonable and fit is great. Con is they are only painted and not ceramic coated . . . but if you are going to weld a flange on like I plan to then it actually works to your advantage. I will probably just have a local shop do the ceramic coating after I am done welding on them.

For that price compared to $600 over more I think it works to your advantage. This way if you need to tweak the headers to fit then get it coated you better off. Plus, take a chance on $300 headers versus $700 makes it easier to swallow.

When you get a chance I would love to see your pictures of your set up. I my set will be similar with a 4l80 down the road.

I will make a thread with some build pics. Most stuff is just initial mock up right now. Here are some pics specifically of the headers

They look like they fit great.

Yep, now there is only one caveat that I have to mention. My entire drivetrain is raised 1.25" from stock to clear my ORD engine crossmember. To compensate for this I am running a 1" body lift from DIY4X so my drivetrain is only 1/4" closer to the body than stock. However, that 1.25" is still in full effect in relationship to the frame so fitment will not be identical to the pics I posted unless you are also running "lift" motor mounts.

In the fourth picture with the starter, is that the frame I am looking at to the left of the header? If you drop a inch it may be real close.
