5.3 Injector wiring question

are the gray clips that go in after the injector is plugged in really necessary? Pic of what I'm talking about. I'm cleaning up the wiring and was curious if any one ran there truck without them

They are basically a safety clip to keep the connector from coming off. You don’t need them.
