I got a 10b with 3.xx gears in it. What all is needed to get 5.38's in it? Need to gear the front and get the 4wd back. :D

Can I use a d44 gear in a 10b? Will it work?

thanks

Parts from the D44 and 10bolt are not interchangeable. Also I am not sure that they make a 5.13 for a 10bolt. If this is for some big tires then whatever size tire needs a 5.13 to way too big for these 1/2 ton axels and will break something the first time you hit the gas. I wouldn't go bigger than 35s on 10bolts. That is what I'm running 35s on 10bolts with a 4.10 ratio.

i think he said something even taller than a 5.13 i think it was 5.38..... hummm i smell baaaaqd stuff in the air, is it hummmmm broken everything from yoke to shafts... dont do it unless you plan on running no more than a 35 or 36...

thanks for the opinion guys but I just can justify waiting months/spending 1500+ to build a d60 for my truck right now.

They do sell 5.38's for d44/10b. I just need to know wether I will have to get a new carrier or a spacer etc.

Search the boneyards!! Find a 14 FF for the rear and a 60 front. 5.38's in a 10 bolt?? Hope its just for mall cruising and parking lot pimpin'!! Why spend money on gears and install when the first time you try something nasty its gonna snap?

its already got a D60 rear. Just havent upgraded the front yet and I dont want to go broke trying to build a front axle.

i had 5.13s in a 10b, never ran it tho, found a d60 just before i installed the axle back in. as long as you have 3.08 and up it uses the same carrier. carrier break is 2.73 and down or 3.08 and up

If it's for mall cruising and parking lot pimpin wtf do you need gears for a front 10b:haha:

if u were to spend 5:38 on gears carrier etc that will run you 3-4, why not save up another 500 and get a dana 60, ebay has them quite cheap

dont spend any coin on a 10 bolt, live with what ya got

what size tires are you going to run? im hoping its 35s or 36s and u just want a killer ratio. i say wait and get a 60...i found out the hard way.

Wow at least someone provided something useful

hummm, i say they will last, 5.38's are pritty tall, just was wondering from earlier, what size tire ya going to run bud...?

The carrier break is at 3.73. Ratios numerically higher starting from 3.73 use a different carrier then gearsets 3.55 and down.

It's actually 2.73up and 2.46down. The only 4 series carrier made for a 10 bolt is aftermarket.
