MY K5 has a TBI 350...what would I have to do to use that TBI setup on my K30's 454?

Thanks

I think a new computer and Throttle body. The only thing that might cross over is the wiring and most of the sensors.

If you have a Quadrajet intake you can get an adapter that will accept a TB and you wont have to change intakes.

The ECM will be the same, but you will have to do something about a fuel pump.Cant really say about the fuel lines since I got all the TB stuff off a 90 model Blazer to go on my M1009.I would think that good rubber lines with good clamps would hold.

and yeh the 454 Tb has bigger injectors and the mounting pattern is bigger.

Just get a Holley replacement throttle body. The 350 one is the same cfm as the 454, and the same size injectors. Fuel pump will be fine. The fuel pump is the same size for both engines, just look up a 350 and 454 in a 87-91 1 ton of checker or autozone.

SBC TBI unit has 1 11/16" throttle bores and uses 61 lb. hr. injectors and the BBC has 2" throttle bores and uses 75 lb. hr. injectors.

This may be way off base, be gentle with my ignorance :doah:

What would the possibility be of using two SBC TBI setups on a "dual quad" style intake? Use one set of sensors and wiring, but run a seperate ECM for each unit. "Y" off the wires for the sensors to feed each ECM.

I know it'd be kind of a hack setup, but it could be done on a very inexpensive budget. Also, if it works, it could supply a healthy BBC easily. Probably have to run two stock pumps or get a good upgraded one. That should round out the fuel end of it.

This could lead the ECM to constantly overfuel the motor due to not being able to drop the block learn lean enough to make it work. I wuld stick with a single TB for the BB, I would personally prefer to use the stock TB as it is 800 cfm I believe, will generally produce more tork.

I heard once of someone running a dual-TBI setup successfully, but it involved a LOT of work and in the end there was no benefit or cost-savings. It was more of an experiment than a useful project. I'd sell off the parts you don't need and put the money toward a Holley Projection setup.

GM ran a factory dual TBI set up. The drivers for the injectors is different in the ECM but there is an ECM to allow this to work however it didn't work too well otherwise GM would have continued using it.

Bent72, The BBC TBI is 670 cfm

Is that the Holley one that you are talking about? I have a TB in my junk pile that has about .25" larger bores, but it is a GM:confused:

A 350 throttle body has 1.6875" throttle bores and the 454 has 2.00" throttle bores. That equates to .3125" larger than a 350.
