well i finally picked up the D70HD ive had my eye on for a while. my setup is 350tbi/700r4 with 42's and the truck is going to be driven on the street and wheeled when possible. i had 5.13s and 39.5's before and on the highway the truck didnt wana stay in OD, so im thinkin that going with 5.86's and 42's with the 700r4 would allow the truck to easily stay in OD when going 60mph+. what do you guys think? its either 5.13s or 5.86s (d70's dont have 5.38's).

at 70 mph, 5.86's with 42's would increase your RPM's by about 150 compared to what you have now. If it wouldnt stay in OD before, I dont think it will with the 5.86's and bigger meats. Unlocking my TC on the highway increases mine by over 200 and it does almost nothing as far as picking up speed. I would run 5.86's but you will probably be like me, just need some more grunt. I can hold OD lockup all day on flat ground, throw in some wind or grade and its hurting to hold it in 3rd, I think it just needs more power. It a lot of weight and resistance

Heck no, 5.86's aren't too deep! Of course, I might be biased since that's what I've got. :wink1:

Seriously though, the most extreme set up I've personally ridden in was tvguy's, he had a Dodge with 6.17's and 35 Boggers. He drove his everywhere, it wasn't nearly as bad as you'd think. It was certainly road friendly, about 60 mph on the interstate was a good cruising speed.
