too far north!
picked up a pair of stock 56" rears for my front spring swap. only they are 4-leaf plus an overload spring. all the 56's i have seen are 8 leaf ones. got them used from a local 4x4 shop. the kid didn't know much, the main guy was gone but he said they had the newer style clamps on them? the clamps have a black plastic insert in them. the springs have the wear pads also. i did some measuring and they measure 55" eye to eye, 26" on one end 30" on the other. so that is good. spring eyes are 1.5 inch have rubber bushings. the only marking i can find is on the bottom of overload where the spring touches axle pad is a 97 in yellow print? iirc chevy went to the long springs after 88 in trucks and 91 in subs. are these light 3/4 ton 56's? just wondering what i am dealing with, thanks:D

yea they made 2 packs, I had more springs which are found in most 1 tons and then the packs like you have that are found in 3/4 ton subs and some p/u, they will work just fine. :)

Pretty certain my 89 burb is the samething. Don't feel like running across the street to see.

yeah my 90 sub had 7 plus overload! but it had the G code on vin tag. so for the front can i leave them the way that it is or should i pull the overload?

eye to eye 56 not total length! measure a 8" lift spring they may measure 52" or 56" but much longer cause the arch:D also a steel tape not a cloth so ballpark:yikes: for sure chevy 56's! every 56" pack i have seen is 4 inches thick in the center these look alot like the 52's just longer.

I have a set like this, came out of a 77 1/2 ton 2 wd longbox I'd junked out.

umm ya...i have a set of 56s..from a stepside parts truck,1/2 ton 2wd..that only had 4 leaves and a overload...but the set i got from an 89 burb 1/2 ton has 5 leavs and overload....

Some 1/2 ton pickups and burbs did have 56" rear springs in them. I helped Matt (az-k5) pull a set of 5 leaf + overload 56" rear springs from a 1/2 ton burb about a week ago. We installed them last week with new shackles on his custom shackle flip setup.

We got the first test run on them today and they flex really well. The shackle angle is alot better now too and the springs are softer so his truck rides REALLY nice now.
