can you put the 5 lug 12 bolt axles shafts in a 6 lug 12 bolt housing and carrier?is there anything diffrent between axle shafts and brake drums

nope, you can do it, just get the corresponding baking plates and 5 lug drums for the shafts
I don't even think you need the backing plates for them. Just the 5 lug drums.

You are probably right. I went from 5 lug to 6 lug putting a 12 bolt under my burb and had to switch the backing plates for the bigger brakes the burb came with
