im sorry if a repost. i actually think ive asked this before, but i cant find any good info on this. sooo, i have been looking for a 5 lug sf14b for awhile, the kind like was in 454ss trucks, but i just cant find 1. im not sure what all models had that rearend to begin with is part of the problem. so tell me where all to look. ive ran across several 6 lug 14b's and im curious about using those housing & swapping the 6 lug shaft out for the 5 lug version shaft, along w/new 5 lug drum. is it as simple as that? any advice or answers, please discuss. tia:waytogo:

That's probably a very rare axle and the 454SS may have been the only truck with that option. At least I am not aware of anything else that came from the factory with a 5 lug 14SF as I believe the light duty 2500's that were 2wd were also 6-lug like the 4wd versions.

I havent heard of anything other than the 454ss trucks having 5 lug either.

I would assume that all you would need to swap it would be the 5 lug shafts and brake drums but I havent ever looked:dunno:

another option would be to buy a 14bolt ff and use a rockcrusher hub. I think ... Think they offer a 5 bolt option.. thier web store is crap at the moment.

this company is selling a 5 lug 14 bolt hub that narrows rhe width it seems.

Install hub and then mill the axle flange down to the same size as the hub.

I ordered the rockcrusher 8 bolt hubs for my 14 when I found stress cracks in my original hub. The outer hub diameter was slightly smaller than the axle flange , Maybe about an 1/8 inch Radius or so. wasn't an issue for me since i was using 8 lug wheels with the larger opening.

What is it going in?? If you want a 14sf 5 lug that is fine, but a 14ff 5 lug is just a waste. The center would almost be draggin on the ground.

But the 5 lug 14sf ONLY came in the 454SS trucks, nothing else. I think if you get a 6 lug 2wd, you can swap the brakes and shafts out for 5 lug. The shafts are available aftermarket, not sure on the brake stuff.
