I have a 88 K5 with the stock 3 speed with Low manual tranny. I used to have a 92 full size Blazer with the 5 speed manual in it. (I guess it was really a 4 speed with OD) Can I buy on of these and put in my 88. Is it a bolt up or ??? Also do you know what the model of that tranny would be?
Thanks for the help,
Rod

the 92 had a nv3500 i think, its an integrally cast bell housing, and fine as long as you stay half-ton, but if you want to go bigger, the sm465 (4spd) in there now is rated to 1 ton.
i think it can be a bolt-up thing, you will have to check transmission output splines vs tcase input splines though, the current case (np208 or np241) should have a "long" 32 spline input, if im remembering correctly

most if not all 1/2 and light 3/4 tons were the crappy gertrag all one piece tranny and bell housing. stay a way from them. get the cast iron nv4500 from a hevy 3/4 or 1 ton truck.
