502 FI bigblock

that sounds about right Scott..... any late 80's boat i come across has 454's... early 90's to early 00's was heavy 502's, than the last 7, 8 yrs it's been mostly 496's..
 
I'm most likely going to drive over and look at it this coming weekend. It's only about 135 miles away. Might try to fit it in with a hockey game on Saturday, as that will only make it 45 miles further to look at the burb.

If it was me I'd basically value the truck if it had a 454. Sounds like to me there is no indisputable proof of what there is under the hood.
 
He can always look at the side of the block for the 8.2 cast into it to know for sure that it's a 502, if it's a 454 then it will have 7.4 cast into the side instead.

I'll need detailed directions for where to look for the #'s cast into the block. I'm not much of a mechanic.:dunno:

Wife sounds open to me at least taking a look at this burb!!!!:D
 
I think he has this thing priced high, even if it is a 502. I'll go take a look and maybe make him an offer.

Have checked out craigslist in the Phoenix area, and it looks like if a guy watched and waited you could buy a decent rust free burb for a lot less.
Have a good friend in the west Phoenix area that could check them out for me.

You also have a bunch of members here. Several members, myself included, have bought trucks in other parts of the country after having brothers on here look them over for them.

yep i did this also. bight a K5 in Vegas and had a fellow member check it over for me before i made the trip to get it..:thumb:
 
and for the 502 BB, i know Schwans trucks have been running them for years.. in fact if you want to buy a core look for a schwans bone yard.. they have been selling them for scrap price on the cores...
 
oh and Cleghorn, IA is just down the road from me(maybe 45 min)........ at the bottom of the craigslist ad it says this the location.. so if the truck is there and someone wants it checked out just drop me a line.. :thumb:

last nights weather report gave a ugly look for sat. up here.. KTIV has good weather reports on line.. may want to check them out first...:thumb:
