any pics or threads from a 52" spring swap on a first gen?


preferably one that kept the axle close to stock position

www.DIY4X.com sells a complete kit for the swap. everything but springs. I think its like $260.
 
Yea, I have seen that. I think I am going to try to fab my own, as my planned coil conversion is going to take too much for me right now.
 
I did this on my K10 a few months ago. I did a build thread on 67-72chevytrucks.com. I did move the axle forward an inch, but you would just need to set yours up off of your dimensions.

The more flexible the front leaf springs are, the more you'll want to push the axle forward to compensate. Otherwise, you will just end up munching the rear fender openings and footwell areas.

My opinion? Kert's already done all the engineering on these. For time and effort involved, its $275 well spent if you want to do the 52" swap.
