6" of total lift if used in the front?

If so, thats what I'm planning for.

that should be about 6" or so, depends on shackle length and angle as well. im running 4" 52's with the overload removed, a good shackle angle (7.25" shackles) and ive got a heavy tube bumper up front and ive got around 6.5-7" lift, which was what i was aiming for.

How's the pinion angle on the front? Did you have to shim it after that long shackle?

yea i believe im using 8* shims, and the pinion angle is really good. i havent built the front shaft yet, but there shouldnt be any issues. i can snap some pics for you tomorrow if you'd like.

Damn! 8 degrees?!?! What if I run the 6" shackles Kert shows on his site?

i think thats what they are, maybe they are 6*, i dont really remember. if you can get a good shackle angle with the 6" shackles then you probably wouldnt need to shim the front. its also dependent on where you located the shackle hanger. using lifted springs i wasnt really sure how much different the location was going to be, so i mounted the hanger in the same location that people use for the stock 52's and it came out well with my springs in the most forward location on the b52 hanger.

i remember you posted bout wanting to keep the axle in the stock or as close to stock location as possible. if thats the case, you should be able to keep the shackle hanger in the stock location

Yep, I want the D60 to remain where its located as in stock position. I also want the stock position for the shackle bracket at the frame end. I plan to replace the stock bracket for a DIY one but want to leave it in the same position. Just have to enlarge the hole, thats all.

Oh yeah, on the rear, I plan to do a setup like this:

2.5" shackle flip
6" shackles
2" or 2.5" rear springs, 56" long, flipped around to gain a 4" longer wheelbase
1" zero-rate

Should net around 7" total suspension while the front is around 6" hopefully.

yea if ur going to keep it in the stock location i think id run 6" shackles.

so ur pushing the rear back but keeping front stock? any particular reason for this? for the rear of mine im running stock 64's with a slightly larger overload flipped upside down, home-made shackle flip with 7" shackles (lowering shackles for a '88-'98) and a zero-rate. i also got new perches from kert for the d70hd, so i actually gained lift from that cuz the tube difference from a 14b, plus kert's perches are beefy. that gave me about 7" lift

Just planning to keep it on the "simpler" side. Gotta remember, no rocks anywhere around here. But I still want a flexy rig, too.

The Jimmy chassis may have the '80 C20 cab I listed for sale but no sale yet. Bedsides will likely be shortened SWB skins fastened to tubing behind the cab. 4" longer wheelbase should help aid in better climbing on the hills around here.

You got it right, D70HD going into this chassis. I've got H1's already. Just need the rearend now.

nice, i just finished swapping in my 70hd and did the disc conversion with the 14b hubs so it matches the front and the stance now is awesome with the h1's. doesn't get much better that that imo. your going to like it

I have the standard 6" Skyjacker front springs under it now but will replace those for 52's. I love the stance of the frame and how high it sits with the 37's. The rear of the frame is sitting on a saw horse and leveled out, too. Just need the rearend and springs so I can put the cab on.

Hills? Hills?!?! In Kansas? There are no hills in Kansas, just bumps! :haha:
I knew someone was gonna say something like this. :doah: Seriously, the hills are out there, just smaller ones. Nothing like mountains, etc.

here are some quick pics of the shackle/pinion angle and how the rear sits with d70hd w/ 14b hubs and stock h1's

Wes, I could be wrong but I still think this set up will come up shorter than 7". I've got stock shackles but more springs to achieve ~6". To be sure about my amount of lift I checked here - http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235269

Not trying to change your mind but pushing the front axle forward will shift weight towards the center, which will also aid in hill climbing. Plus a longer front driveshaft always helps.

After I swapped the cab onto my truck I went wheeling with the 4" lift front springs, 4" shackle flip, stock axles and stock wheelbase. Going down hills was scary! With little weight in the rear, the rear suspension wouldn't flex and I was lifting rear tires all day long. I almost had to change my shorts after going through a downhill left turn and feeling the truck start to go over:eek1:
