For those of you that have done the 52" swap up front, I need a measurement off of them....i need the arch measurement, you need a straight line from center of shackle bolt to center of opposite shackle bolt, and from that line I need the measurement down to the bottom of the spring that actually sits on the spring perch on the axle. I need to know how much my springs will compress with weight on them....Thanks alot.

I'm waiting for all my parts to do a 52" in the front. DIY4X and DEAVER SPRINGS. Don't really know what I'm geting myself into but ,with the info I learn from here it should be a easy swap..........right?

It is as easy as you are good with a wrench. in other words, if you don't know righty tighty from lefty loosey, it might be a long day or 6 to get it done =)

The terms you are searching for are "Free Arch" and "Loaded Arch"...

Here is an example of a "Free Arch" measurement on a 4" lift spring....

If you look carefully, you can see that the tape measure shows just about 9 INCHES of free arch.....once the spring is installed, I actually got the 4 inches of lift that was advertised. The discrepancy between the Free Arch and Loaded Arch numbers will certainly give you a sense of how "soft" a spring is.

Here's a decent weblink that explains more about measuring springs in case anyone is interested.
