I order a set of 56" springs for the front of my 86' K20. I was hoping that would be about the same hieght as my 6" lift 52's I had udnder the. I was told that just from swapping from 52 to 56 I will gain 4" of lift so I would end up 10" of lift just from swapping these springs. PLus I planned on running longer shackles to use the stock rear mount and have the shackle pointing backwards more so there would be lots of droop. Question is anyone know if that is true that I will gain 10" of lift from these springs? The front mount is gonna be the same level as the front of the stock ones but 4"s further forward.

is there a typo in your spring size? if you have 6" 47s, then you would need 2" 56s to keep it the same heigth. if you have 6" 52s up front already, 6" 56s will be the same heigth.

56s or 52s in the front will net you about 4-4.5" of lift. If you want 10" of lift your gonna need lifted 52s or 56s. Or you could use dropped mounts & shackles

Sorry I didnt specify. THe new 56's I ordered are 6" lift too. So I removed 52" 6" lift springs and I am replacing them with 56" 6" lift springs. I was told that the 56" 6" lift springs would give my 10" of lift since they are 56"s. I could see how I may get a little bit more than the 52's since they are longer but I am wandering if it will really be 4"s more.

Another ?? when people say 52s or 56s is that the length loaded or unloaded? My front springs measure 52" on the truck. When I pulled them out they were like 48". My new springs which according to the book are for a suburban with 56" rear springs. When we got them I measured them and they are 52" long unloaded. I am think that maybe once I get them on the truck with all the weight they will be 56"s long.

no they aren't going to give you 4" more. But they will flex better.

That is what I am going for. I am trying to keep the truck as low as possible. I am wanting to keep it around 11-12" of lift with my 49's.

Ok, if the springs are stock length, but 4" arch springs, then they are 47" front and 52" rear. There is no lift to be had from swapping into longer springs in the rear, just better flex, but swapping in to rear springs up front is good for around 4", plus whatever inches the srings are arched. 4" plus X" etc. So, 4" arch, plus the 4" for rear springs up front would be 8".

Putting 6" 56" springs in the rear will give you 6" only, and putting 6" rear springs (52's or 56's) up front will give you 10" give or take. You will need a 4" shackle flip to make up the rear difference... or a 4" block. I'd recommend the flip. Hope this helps some.

Say what???? :eek1: 10inches???
If 6" 52's are being replaced by 6" 56's you might gain some. I am thinking somwhere around 1" at the most. Not 4 more inches.

Your question is based on how you mounted your longer leafs. I can tell you that stock 56" only get you about the same as 4" lift stock springs. That is figuring in the way I fabbed up & mounted mine. Yours may be different.

Maybe you should take some time to read more clearly. :deal:

I was talking about putting the rear springs up front, I CLEARLY explained that 6" springs of any length are only worth 6" mounted in back. Stock rear psrings up front ar good for about 4" give or take... aftermarket rear springs that have some added arch are worth more (the extra being whatever the arch is). So, 2" rear springs, placed up front will usually net around 6".

Ok I got the 6" lift 56" rear springs put up front today. I used a 7" long shackle and the front mount is about the same level as the factory. I didnt want to drop it down any lower. It did rasie the truck up quite a bit but I also dont have all the weight on the front end. So far just from swapping springs and longer shackles I am sitting about 6 or 7" higher than I was when I started if not a little bit more.
