One thing I noticed is that he's not geared low enough, like having a reduction gear that he can shift in and oot of.

Like a KluneV.

He needs high gears for mud but he'll also need the reduction gear too, IMHO.

Yep - that's why they have the other challenges now. TTC is out of reach for almost everyone but it's cool to watch.

x2. however it kinda sucks how much ttc has evolved. i think ttc should a competition of "street legal" or at least vehicles that could be driven on the street, not just rigs built specificly for the challenge. i think thats how it started out wasnt it, or something like that?

it is a sweet truck, i was reading the rebuild of it on pbb once they got word that they were in the challenge

I forgot to mention that he's running a SCS drop t-case. You can swap out the gears in a matter of minutes. I think the lowest gear set available is 5.0:1.

So they can run one gearset for the mud pit. And then swap out to some lower gears for the mini rubicon

Holy Crap !!! :eek1: :eek1: :eek1:

I wouldn't want to go behind him after he rut's up a mudhole !!!

44's don't stand a chance now!!!

Yeah, I was reading about the buildup on Pirate as well. Those guys are busting him b/c he has a "mud truck" and not a crawler. A few guys were on him b/c of the changes he has made to the truck after getting selected to compete. Everyone changes their stuff before they go. Nothing new. Oh, and I hope he lets that 632 Merlin walk all over the purpose built crawlers/ buggies after everyone has been giving him so much crap.

Nice parts!

Hope he's willing to drive it the way it'll need to be driven to be competitive at TTC.

My guess is that video is just some "shakedown" stuff to make sure everything is working right, but to be sure he'll have to pick up the pace on the rocks, and obstacle course when he gets to the competition.

The raunchy sound of that 632 and the way it builds revs SO fast give me a giggly and tingly feeling!!

:usaflag:

the truck looks awesome and sounds great but its to freaking big. ditch the bed, taper the front, lower the rest of the body down over the frame some and it would be more trail friendly. The walls of the tank trap are going to mess the body up.

Thats what real truck club challenge is for. Top Truck should and always will be the "top trucks." We all need stuff to aspire to. I love seeing the stuff that is so insane because it gives me something to build towards.

That truck seemed to flex fairly well when it came over that dirt pile. I think it had a lot more left in it. I would really like to see its RTI score. It takes a lot of suspension to stuff those meats.

I agree in tapering it front and rear though. If he really pushes it on TTC hes gonna be smashing in that body on the tank trap. THere are spots in there with deep ruts that lean your body right into a bank. With as tall as he is its gonna trash that body, even with 54's.

Dude had posted a build thread on pirate. Guys over there riding him pretty hard to lower it. He just won't do it. It's his money and his truck. I do think that he did lower it some from when it had 49's and leaf springs on it. It's no taller than some of the other trucks that have competed, but with (what I think) is a better overall package. Should do well in the mud, the tow test, hillclimb. Maybe not so much in the canyon sections of teh tank trap. But I'm definately gonna buy the DVD this year.

well it doesnt have to be amazing at everything, as long as it has a few events it can dominate at, then it will win...no rig can be the best at everything :)

they do not do the time trials anymore. they have eliminated everything that isn't on dirt and moving. no more design portion, braking, or acceleration tests. I think they elimintaed the road test too, but I'm not sure.
