my 76 k10 currently has a 4 inch skyjacker lift and rides like CRAP!

Thinking about doing the 56/52 swap cause it cheap and was wondering how the drivability is? This truck is my daily driver not so much my off roader

My .02: DON'T DO IT, at least the front 52"s. A set of 56"s in the back is no different than a set of 52"s, i.e. you gotta do a shackle flip or something. If you have lift springs now, changing to stock ones will be more work.

My experience with the 52"s up front is that yes, you get a TON of flex, great for low-speed rock crawling. You also spend a TON of money (including crossover and new driveshaft cuz you move the axle) and do a TON of engineering and it ends up being wobbly as all get-out and can't remotely do highway speeds as it could before.

For a DD, you really REALLY want to just get different springs, i.e. Tuff Country or ORD customs or whatever. Get them about the same lift height you have now, and then maybe do something about shocks, and off you go.

Ive wondered about this myself. Ive read several times that you end up with tons of body roll with the front 52 swap, but is everyone ditching the sway bar when they change the springs? You could also add a leaf or 2 to the pack if theyre too soft.

simple

no serious offroading, not worth it, period

by the time you do your 52s in front, you could have bough a new set of custom leafs and have it ride 10x better

The rear, well, do it if you want more flex, otherwise the same goes for the rear. The amount of money spent on a shackle flip, nice 56s, new bushings....you could have bought some nice aftermarket springs.

Springs from ORD are great. A friend bought some and his K5 rides great and has great flex! Although it does not flex like the 52s you aren't wheeling it hard enough to worry about it! I would do the ORD springs for a DD anyday over the 52's. That being said im doing a 56/63 swap in my but, a trail rig only!

for being a daily driver how does tuff country ez rides in the front and 56" rear with a shackle sound? to accomplish 4" lift

It's good. I have the 4" HD spring pack up front. With the bumper and winch (not pictured) it rides good with Bilstein 5125s. I don't run a swaybar either, but if you don't flex the suspension much, mine as well keep it. (56s out back)

Stock swaybar won't fit with 52"s up front, so yes, it gets ditched. Might be able to do a custom one, but folks crazy enough to go with 52"s don't need swaybars :D

My T-C E-Z rides were the shorter ones for my '70, but they sucked IMHO!!!! I got them new, was told they may be too soft to have under a big block, but they could have held up a Cummins. I got a set from ORD and now it is a different truck! I'm thinking about just taking a torch to the TC's so no one else has to put up with them! Besides that, no one bought the hunks of crap from my listing anyway!
I vote ORD.
