I've done some searching, but didnt come up with any details....

I understand that you don't need to move the rear-front spring shackle when doing a front swap? true? I know I'd need a b52 hanger for the front of the front.

how much lift do they give? I'm running a 42" tire

how far forward do they move the axle?

does the steering box have to be moved?

what were they found in for a vehicle originally?

I guess in looking for a detailed thread if anyone knows of one

Thanks everyone!

Stock height 56" springs will normally net you a 4" lift, but it depends on number of leafs.
I tried different number of leaves, but settled for five.

How far it moves the axle depends on how far to the front you move the front hangers.
The axle moves 2" less than the hangers.
For example, if you move the hangers 4" to the front, you'll end up with the axle 2" towards the front.

You dont have to move the steeringbox, but you will need crossover steering.

I'm not 100% sure what vehicles to look for, but it think that they were used in the rear of all C/K20 and C/K30 pickup trucks.
Maybe in the long wheelbase C/K10 as well...:dunno:

You might find some more info in my build-thread

Good luck!

My 56" came from a 1 ton military chevy pick up, M1009? Not sure if that's the correct nomenclature.
They still have the tan paint on them.

Just chisel off the rivets that hold on the front spring hanger, then bolt it back on as far forward as the all ready existing holes in the frame will allow, then buy the 7.25 inch (CLicky) shackles from DIY4X and your ready to do it!

Some 3/4 tons (depending on GVW) all 1-tons came with 56" rear springs

also some burbs got them to IIRC (depending on GVW)

Some of the older 1/2tons came with 56's, my 56's came out of a 74 1/2ton chevy.
