Trying to get my truck going but so many ideas etc going on. Since my axle is not in yet and now would be best time trying to figure out should I go with 56 or 57 rear leafs with DIY4X shackle flip? Any input or anyone running similar combo here? Pros/Cons to each ?Know K5 had 52 from factory but want more flex and better ride.

56s will fit with kerts flip in the factory holes. I did 57s but havnt tested yet so i wont say they are the way to go. I definately see them being something you will need alot of shock to help keep them stable.

I run the 57's without the overload, they're soft and flex well. You'll need an anti-wrap and like dueling mentioned some decent shocks.

guess I will try to find 56's then read you don't need anti wrap there.

seems like all I find is 8/1 springs local or with in hour drive. So how do you know which springs to remove to do the 5/1 I have heard other say is good combo for 56's?

So I'm of the mind you need a traction bar for just about any rear spring.

Softer springs travel better ride nicer smoother overall need help to control axle wrap. Stiffer springs are well stiffer but need less help in the axle control dept.

How come so many use 56 springs here without anti wrap etc?

I haven't gotten to it yet but manage without it. Mine are 3/4 ton Sub 7+1 and flex more than enough. My overload is flipped, which I consider to be my bump stop. :D Grab an 8 pack and pull a leaf, it's not worth chasing down some 1/2 ton set.

is that 6 plus overload?
And really, you wont know till you try. I pulled 2 out of my 7+1 pack and hated it. Put them back in and was shocked how smooth and flexible it was.

Think I finally found some will find out for sure Tuesday. Only bad thing is I have to remove from a complete rolling burb sure this will be fun!

Most of it isn't too bad but the front hangers are a bitch. Some of the hangers hang down farther than others and are a little easier to get at the nut. The others are not easy, in fact since I was pulling them regularly I took my crappy spare 3/4 wrench (iirc) and cut it in half. Drop it inside the hanger and loosen the bolt head side, the wrench wedges against the side and holds the nut.

The driver side shackle kinda sucks too, since the spare tire is in the way. If you can, torch it all off.

I have 56" rear springs on my 1990 Blazer.

I have an anti wrap bar.

Just because people are "getting away with out one", doesn't mean they wouldn't be better off with one.

Agree, that's also why I said "Not yet, but I have managed without one". It's just saying you can have plenty of fun until you get one, which is on my list, whereas the 63s might bother you until you install a bar. :waytogo:

Did your '90 come with 56s from factory?

I thought so, just seemed the wording "might" insinuate they came with them. Like Chevy changed it at some point, which would have been pretty damn cool, but pointless for them. lol

So just use my K5 for mock up for tools needed besides torch, and sawzaw. Just don't wanna get there and be like damn left it at home. Thinking about taking K5 since 95 civic might be to small for springs.
