my tow rig is an 85' k10 w/ 3/4 tons. i want to make it as close to a real 3'4 ton as i can. do i have to move both rear spring mounts to run the 56"ers and keep the stock wheelbase or just the shackle hanger? if just the shackle hanger then how far? my truck is a long box and i will not be running a shackle flip. i have a set of 2" HD front springs to run and balance it out. just trying to get an idea about what i have facing me i hope its pretty simple. i'm trying to get it going. i never really payed attention to previous threads involving this cause on my blazer i didnt care i just moved the shackle hanger back to get the extra wheel base (running 64's) thanks -justin

Your not paying attention is obvious as your truck already has 56" rear springs.

roughly 4" is what you'll have to move it back. you won't gain any lift unless you move the hanger down on the frame.

The easiest way to go 56s is to use a shackle flip of your choice and put the hangers on the opposite side they would go for your stock springs. You will end up using the same holes in the frame and it will push the rear mount backwards.

There are about 500 threads on using 56s in the rear alone.

And a shackle flip will give you ~4 of lift with your stock springs due to the new lower location of the rear mount.

Post #56 will show you what I am talking about when I say put the brackets on the opposite side of the frame.

i used the sky manufacturing mounts on mine, and they have 2 different sets of holes for the shackle depending on which length springs you use.

i think people missed the part where i said "I WILL NOT BE RUNNING A SHAKLE FLIP" . but I undersand how to mount them now. i just need to know what years and models they came in. my buddy has a 74' k20 w/ 52's WTF. i thought all 3/4t trucks had 56"rs. any way i'm going out to the yards today to look for springs, most yards here pull leaf springs and store them up. All they write on them "chevy rear" no year, model anything. I'm taking a tape w/ me so can someone give me spring pack numbers (#of leafs) pin measurements ect. like 25-31 or what ever it is. thanks -justin

Suburbans have the 56" rears as well.............which junk yard ya goin' to?
I just found out about a couple of good ones in Lincolnton!

my buddy also has a early 70's 3/4 ton with 52" springs. i believe the measurement will be 26" and 30" for the 56" long springs.

Dontoe i was going to try 21 motors in hamptonville the advertise as being the biggest truck/4x4 yard around, and its 5 min from my house:D. Lincolnton is like 45+ mins from me i'd hate to ride that far if they wern't sure they had them and they never know what they have. all they want to know when u call is "what year". i hate going through that battle. But thats sounds like a good trip for another day. pm me the phone numbers if you dont mind, may not hurt to try. i feel like I may strike out at 21 b/c the last time i was there i didn't see much HD stuff, all 1/2 ton thanks- justin

D*** 21 wanted 50$/ spring total of 100 bucks:eek1: thats crazy i've been getting them there for years for 40$ a set. they said well not anymore you won't. i'm through w/ them, they told me a while back they wanted 1500$ for a 6lug sf14b-
