Ya, ya ya its all been asked before, but after a lot of searching I am not finding the answers I seek. So a few questions.

1) All Surburbans use them right? I do know for an old surburban with the rears still in it so next question.

2) Where can I get rebuild parts for springs? Bushings, center pin and whatever else...

3) Any newer rigs use 56" springs that will work with a DIY4X shackle flip? Dont really wanna run into problems with widths and center pin being in a different location.

I plan on running them the 26" 's to center forward so the axle location doesnt move 4 inches back. Does that sound right.

4) Zero rates, Easy inch? Can I get these a little thicker? I want as much lift as I can sqeeze outta the rear without buying lift springs. And yes I know not to use blocks.

Planning on towing my k5 home this week to start wrenching and figure I get a few answers before I start looking for parts.

Sorry guys for all the questions.

IIRC, 56" rears came on 3/4 and 1 tons, so a Burb *could* have them, but not if it's a half-ton.

Also, I seem to recall that whether any given truck has 52"s or 56"s depends on GVWR, date of manufacture, and phase of the moon ... so bring a measuring tape ;)

Spring parts are the same for 48's, 52's etc the only difference is bushing sizes which is based on measure them when you buy them as I think its a shot in the dark depending on the the year.

are these for the front or the back ?

you can buy your tie bolt/center bolt from napa..thats where i get mine b/c they usually have them in stock...everwhere else wants to order them. my buddies 91 sub has 56'' rear springs, but they didn't have as many leaves as the ones i cut out of the 84 k30 when i pulled the axles i just torched the shackles and bolt and pulled them w/axles...i got stuff home and removed the rear springs to cut off the perches and they feel almost twice as heavy as the ones out of the sub...1 person can move those around fairly easy...the 84 model 56''ers you askin some1 for help, they are HEAVY sob's! so i think there are differences in the 56'' spring packs!

You can make spring pack center bolts with a 3/8" fine thread grade 8 bolt. I round the head off in a poor man's lathe (chuck the bolt in a drill and hit the head against a bench grinder =)) This way you can get 'em at your local hardware store, in dang near any length you'd need.

Sure, the 56" packs come in a variety of flavors. My 3/4 ton crewcab had packs with maybe nine or ten leaves; I replaced them with one ton packs with ten and an overload leaf on top.

When I put the old 56"s on my K5, I took some of the leaves out; I think I ended up using five or six. This let me fine-tune ride height and flex.

Thxs for the answers. I have a direction to go in. Gonna have to take the measuring tape with me I guess. I'll let ya know what I get, and from what. Thxs guys.

Sounds like you are fixin to do what I just did; 56" springs long side back, DIY4X flip w/ 6" shackles and a zero rate. Details.

My springs came from a mid 80's sub. Don't know any more about it than that. 4 leaves plus overload.

i thought 2wd 'burbs had 56" springs, and 4x4 burbs had 52's...? i heard all CC's came with 56's, and all true 1 tons had them, too...

just what i've heard over the years...

One tons can have 63/64's to. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what springs gm put in what truck

right, i forgot about the 63/64" - i'm thinking square body trucks, not the new stuff...!

yes, i know they're like 22 years old now, but the IFS stuff is still too new...

Yeah they are still new to me too, I think some V30s had 63/64's too maybe I am wrong though.
