I was looking around diy4x's site and saw that on the install it is noted that if you install the shackle flip "backwards" that 56in springs will bolt right up to the existing leaf spring mounts.

I was just wondering how far back will that move the axle and will the 56's provide any lift over 52's when installed this way?

Any other heads up would be cool.

On the rear, there is no additional lift over similar 52's.

The center pin is centers on 52's and offset 4" on 56's, therefore, if mounted like stock the axle is the same as 52's but if the 56's are turned backwards the axle mves rearward 4".

Alright so if I get some 56's and switch me shackle flips around I'll gain nothing but flex? Sounds good to me I think I'll add that to the list of things to do... :D

And if you order the DIY4x kit, you can do the flip, with 56's without having to drill new holes...

You flip the DIY brackets Left/Right...
Gives your rear shackle the correct angle for 56's :)
That's exactly what i'm doing with a longer shackle and a Zero rate for 6 inches total.

I had an interesting problem w/ my DIY shackle flip brakets. First, none of the holes lined up that were in the frame. I had to drill all new holes and I don't mean they were a little off-center, they weren't even close... about 1" off in different directions.

The second part to this is that I initially installed the brackets backwards to accomodate the 4" lift 56's I have for the rear. After installing them, I put in the leaf springs and the shackle angle was about -30 degrees (angled towards the front of the truck).

Do I have an oddball truck or what? It's an 86 Blazer, 305 engine w/ 700R4 and 208 transfer case. The front end has dual shocks and the rear used to have 52" leaf springs.

that's weird...
your truck must be a loner...
I saw a set of Kert's installed last weekend (waiting for mine in the mail)
They bolted right up to his frame...

I have no idea what you're running into. All our shackle flips have been built on the same fixture since we released the flip kits. haven't made any changes to them other than the logo and trimming the bottom lip corners back a little bit to help folks with hitches and so on. Nothing with the bolt pattern at all. Shoot some pictures for us so we can get a look see what's going on.

Did he by chance for some odd reason get 1st gen or 1ton shackle flip kit or is there any difference in the mounting?

First gen would be quite a bit different.
