I went to the junkyard today at lunch I found a lot of 59 inch springs off of late 90's suburbans. Has anyone use these vs 56's off older trucks? I thought they might flex more than 56's but maybe not as much axle wrap as the 63's do. Let me know if i'm missing something here and any input on using 59's insted of the 56's.

its not a comin swap that I have seen around here. Some use the 56's because they don't want to move the rear front bracket. 73-75 has no issue with tanks in the way like newer years and I have noticed most go with the 63's for that matter.
I think axle wrap is an issue regardless of springs. So traction bar is needed.

That's one thing I don't see mentioned around here nearly enough, flexy springs and axle wrap pretty much go hand in hand. I did that for a while, bent the crap out of a few sets of springs and then went four link and didn't look back. Anti-wrap bars are a good idea though too :thumb:

Do you think the weight of the vehicle will affect the possibility of spring wrap? I don't have too much weight in the back of my trazer and so far I havnt felt much wrap at all. Then again I havnt used 4:1 yet :doah:

Of course, but by the same right the weight of the vehicle will affect how much flex you can get out of a given spring pack.

I'm not saying there aren't success stories with 56's/64's without any anti-wrap setup but IME they're rare. I wreaked havoc on my rear 52's, hence why I went to a four link.

Anyway, back to Bo's question, what do the springs look like? How many leaves? Is there a square "bracket" tying all the leaves together? Is there an overload? I'm a big fan of overload springs, not sure why many hate them, they keep the spring from over-flexing (which kills them) and can help with axle wrap.
