on 56's front and rear. on the front you dont have to move your rear hanger back correct? and whats the normal shackle length 6 or 7? and on the front hanger on the front springs you just reverse the stock hangers or what? and the rear i would need a shackle flip with 7 inch shackle? (i have echobit now i know i cant use that). and do what with the rear springs front hanger? trying to piece all of this together. how much lift did people get out of theres? im trying to get a little more than 4.

and whats the normal shackle length 6 or 7? Just get the longer shackle and if it appears to be too long then you can redrill and cut off the excess
and on the front hanger on the front springs you just reverse the stock hangers or what? Kinda sorta, check out Jekbrown's tech article on 52" spring swap.
and the rear i would need a shackle flip with 7 inch shackle? (i have echobit now i know i cant use that). You will need a shackle flip but I'm not sure what length shackle you will need. Basically you flip the brackets around and get a longer shackle
and do what with the rear springs front hanger? Don't touch it. 56s have an offset center pin so mount them with the longside to the rear and your axle will stay in the same place. If you wanted more wheelbase(4"s) you could flip the 56s around.
trying to piece all of this together. how much lift did people get out of theres? im trying to get a little more than 4. 56s in the front should give you between 4"s and 5"s but that depends on a lot things (spring pack thickness, shackle length) 56s in the rear is the same deal as the front between 4 and 5"s.

there ya go

How much Wheel Base can you get running 56's up front? I thought it was 2 inches not 4?

when I said 4"s I was referring to 56s in the rear. As far as the front goes, if you do it according to jekbrown's tech article it should be 2"s forward

Old thread, but the info I'm looking for was touched on.

I've searched and found someone with a picture of a 7" shackle, ORD Flip kit, and 56" rear springs.

I currently have 4" flip kit and springs, just looking for the best performing shackle length. I don't care what it might "lift" the truck, I'll deal with that later. :)

Not a great pic, but this is with 56" springs long side to the back and 4" DIY4X flip swapped side to side and 6" shackles. I also have a zero rate moving the axle back 1.5".

I wouldn't use less than a 6" shackle.

thank you VERY much
I was either going to do a 6" or 7" shackle
the angle looks good on that 6

if you did it again, would u stay with the 6"? Also, what leaf pack is that, 5 or 6?

That is a four leaf plus overload (which I flipped over) pack.

I plan to stick with the 6" shackle for now - I haven't driven the truck much yet in this configuration. Right now the rear sits a little lower than the front (1/4-1/2"), so I may go to a 6.5" or 7" shackle. That would reduce the shackle angle and stiffen up the rear a little but I don't want to mess with that yet until I get the front sorted out.

nice shot
thanks again, the angle looks good

this picture looks funny though, like you photoshop'd the truck in there. There aren't enough shadows under and around the tire haha

We get sun from every direction at once here in Kentucky. :D

There are a number of places you can get 56" springs. I think mine are from a suburban.

56" front will stretch the wheelbase etc. just did this on mine. use 7" eye to eye shackles, made a mixed pack of the longest plys from a 6" lift pack and the 56" pack. came out to 4" lift and still has a strong spring rate and flexs great. here is a good link for those that are thinking about 52/56 spring swaps

You are thinking 64s. 56s are generally found in the 3/4 tons and all 1-tons
x2
mine are from a 3/4 w/ six leafs plus overload. There are 4 and 5 leaf 56" sub springs as well. I've seen lots in junkyards. All the 4 and 5's are 2wd 1/2 I believe:wink1:
