57\" leaf springs

i'm doing research ona project i'm going to start shopping for mid-winter/early spring. i'm going to look for a SWB K10 or a Blazer. i want a flexy suspension setup that's not going to cost me an arm and a leg.m i've read alot about 57" Ford springs. what kind of mods do i need to do to install these? and how far off is the lift rating on them as compared to a stock Ford application (ie if i buy 4" lift springs they'll actually give me ____ lift)

Re: 57\" leaf springs

No one offers a lift spring for those. Looking back on this I should have gone with the 56" rears out of the 3/4 ton chevs.

Reasons

#1 - you can get lift springs for it

#2 - They are stiffer (less axle wrap and a more balanced suspension)

#3 - Doesn't require drilling or offsetting because front eye to pin is the same as the 52s.

But then again they aren't that bad. Im still running them because to me its not worth the energy to swap.

Re: 57\" leaf springs

3/4 ton springs are out of the question. stiffer springs = less articulation, and i want a lot of that...

Any shackle flip is gonna give you an ass load of rear travel anyway.

Re: 57\" leaf springs

All you have to do is remove a few leaves to get the 3/4 ton leaves softer. They come with like 10 leaves in them!

My 57" ford rears bent on the passenger side form torque.

Do you want buy them? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: 57\" leaf springs

Mine aren't bent yet, but I wouldn't run open clamps with them. I will be adding at least one leaf to the pack though, with the hardtop on it sags a little.

Axle wrap I have whipped thanks to Bill and Sean at Az-Kickin...

Do you want a trail rig or a 4wheelparts parkinglot mall poser that can only go up a ramp?

I'm doing it... I'm going to use, ORD zero rates, ORD 4" shackle flip, and will be adding a longer shackle.
