I get what your saying, which makes total sense. I’ll just have to figure out how to do that & I’m guessing I should do that with out the present shocks on, just to make sure, I’m maxed in both directions. Thank YouBest way to verify is to fully articulate your suspension up/down and measure the distance between top and bottom mounts at each, and that use those measurements to make sure you find a shock with maybe 1-2” shorter at compressed length and 1-2” more length at extended as a buffer.
Currently all mounts are in stock locations. I’m going to measure the current shocks eyelet-eyelet then how much of exposed shock rod is out. I believe that would let me know how much is left in housing ? No reverse shackles on rear either. Trying to find made in USA OnlyWhat is your current setup? It's very common here to install a different top shock mount up front, to take a longer shock. The stock mounts up front were designed for a spring just a couple of inches from the bumpstop.
The research I did suggested these shocks were probably going to be Gabriel’s -cheap- or similar. But I didn’t know RC used these on their kits. Because these are the shocks on truck right now, which I’m sure (now) are original with install of lift kit. Thank You for the background ! Back to puzzle board -figure what’s next. Those are obsolete Rough Country part numbers, but I understood that Gabriel was making all the lift kit twin tubes back then. Possibly @swettysblazer could cross reference or you could just look up old kits in 2", 4", 6" and see what shocks came with them. In the generic sense, you should measure how long they are extended and collapsed and see if they will fit. I honestly don't think RC had a lot of valving options back then. Do they have the proper bushings for your truck?
Do you have a cherry picker?I get what your saying, which makes total sense. I’ll just have to figure out how to do that & I’m guessing I should do that with out the present shocks on, just to make sure, I’m maxed in both directions. Thank You
No unfortunately I gave that awayDo you have a cherry picker?
