ok , I have a few questions :

first , I have a 1983 K5 Blazer , 305 , 700 R4 , 10 bolts , stock interior.

my son had (emphasis on HAD) a 2003 Silverado SS , with 6.0 motor and brand new tranny(2 months old) , Interior is perfect , consoles , seats ect. Well he totalled his SS last monday night!! motor and trans are still good as well as the interior. can i transplant any of the SS parts .....interior , motor , trans , ect? basically , what could I use to upgrade modify my blazer from his SS? we are buying it back from the insurance co. for 1200.00

Sounds good, they make a stand alone harness for the motor and trans to make it easier. Prob someone on here knows more on that. Motor mouns can be bought too, just might have to make a crossmember for the trans and see what you will do with the t-case since it would be on the opposite side. ...a ford 60 ...other options...? But the ss is all wheel drive if i remember correctly.

The seats look good in the trucks and blazers, some mount mods and ull have a nice seat and console.

Well, for $1200 you can't go wrong. That IIRC the SS is an AWD transfer case, and they are like $2800 from GM and hard to find used (my buddies took a **** on his Quadrasteer Denali the output shaft was clunking thats how I know). The trans is equally valuable. 6.0 is a great motor, I would buy it, part out everything. You can figure $500 or more for a used trans (maybe more since it was just rebuilt), probably more for the t-case, and a whole leather SS interior for a silverado should be worth an easy grand I would think if its in good shape. You could a free motor, make money on the rest, then scrap the shell, if you have the time and space.

jump all over it. advanced adaptors makes plenty of adaptors to bolt up any transfer case. swap all the interior even the dash. make your own gauge cluster that will fit the stock location. in the process of doin that right now. prolly have to fab your own seat brackets up to keep the power seats and stuff. would make one sweet rig!

I would swap the motor and the tranny but keep the transfer case or find a 241 for it.

You can do the wiring yourself, basically get rid of all that you dont need between the computer and the engine.

With an automatic, you will want a VSS signal to the computer. There is a JAG version that goes in line with the speedo cable that I think is around $40.

You will also want the computer programmed to get rid of the VATS and the emissions and junk. If you dont do it yourself, I think its around $300 or less depending on who you find.

Ton of information about this on thirdgen.org and its very do-able and would be a great upgrade.

I'm planning on swapping in a 6.0 maybe this year as I can get them for around $800.

I am pretty certain in the older body styles you need a new engine crossmember as well. A handful of guys on here have done this swap. Worth it, IMO. I have a 5.3L I am putting in a 1969 Firebird. The wiring isn't a huge deal as long as you can red a schematic and know what you don't need (EVAP stuff, EGR, Downstream O2s). You will need the PCM reflashed to eliminate the components you remove and eliminating the VATS is the biggest thing. You could swap it right in but it will never fire up unless you get that done.

Pacific Fab sells a new stand alone harness for the Gen III motors. I got a complete 6.0 from him and the harness is nice.

4 wire hookup and all of the plugs etc. are new and right.

Talk with Kevin at Pacific Fab.

I just found out from the insurance co. today that , since we just put in a new GM tranny and had the reciept they are going to give us almost 1300.00 for the tranny and since they are doing that we will basically be getting the truck for free (buyback was 1242.00 , if i remember correctly. so we will get the truck and a few extra dollars for the new tranny.) my son wants to keep his 6.0 so I guess I am getting the front seats , rear seat and center and overhead consoles , just need some info on what has to be modified to install them in my 83 blazer. never done anything like this so details would be very helpful , lol! the rest will be parted out to make what we can off of it!!

anyone have any pics of 2003 or newer seats and consoles installed in the older 80's model Blazers? my sons SS doesnt have the jump seat center console , his runs from behind the front buckets to the dash , so i would have to modify the console and my 4 wheel drive shift linkage to make it work, maybe mount my 4wd shifter into the cup holder part of his console ?also would his rear seat be able to be fitted into my 83 blazer if i fabbed up some mounts?
