With a ls convertion and th350 what is everyone doing for the kick down cable. I am going with the howell injection so no carb. Any thaughts

just a thought...if you used a th400, it has an electronic kickdown switch, and im sure you could find one for a reasonable price.

before you spend your money on howell injection read up on them . we haven't had good luck on here with them .

if doing 6.0 ls then why not factory system ?

I second sweetk30, why howell and not just use the well done factory system with either a cut down factory harness or an aftermarket harness.

Also I thought TH350 where a vacuum kick down. I have run one for years but it's a RMVB and thus no kick down or governor BS.

na th350 had kick down cable

700r4 was throttle load valve cable .

th400 was electric kick down .

4l60-e and up in full electric are in the computer control.

The detent cable on a TH350 does not "have" to be hooked up,(but its best if it is I suppose)--you'll have no passing gear at speeds higher than 30 mph or so with it dissconnected though--the modulator will force a downshift at slower speeds, and you can always pull it down into lower gears manually if you need to pass or climb a hill..the cable will have to be left intact so the ATF wont leak out of the case of course..

I would think you could make up or adapt a stock detent cable bracket to the throttle body or accelerator cable somehow and get the detent cable to work as it would on a older carbed engine...

I would suspect folks are using a cable from lokar. But it might be possible to use a TV cable from a mid 90s Camaro orvette.

Learn new sh!t every day.

I guess the next question is that "LS" swap is a really poor generic term for a newer Gm motor.

However there are many variants at this point and a few of those are drive by wire and thus you should be able to adapt the kick down cable to that, OR if it's drive by wire I think there are still some moving parts on the outside of the throttle body that might be usable. Then again you could just not use it as mentioned above as well.

It probably will function much like a 400 minus its electric kick down. I dont run a electric kickdown on my 400, i just manually shift it where I want it. Kind of a PITA but it works. But if your going 6.0 I would use the 4L60 or 80 instead of the 350.

You can run a Lokar style cable back through the firewall, seal and double nut it with the included hardware, and weld an attaching point to the top of the accelerator pedal arm close to where the throttle cable secures.Hook your cable end at that point and adjust so it is pulled all the way tight only at wide open throttle. If you are using a drive by wire throttle assembly you will need to attach an arm to it for cable activation, and apply the same method.
