I know some of you guys have done it, but it's almost impossible to search for since the search function won't search for 6.0L correctly. Can anyone point me to some threads where swapping in a 6.0L for an older 5.7L has been discussed(preferably TBI but I'll take all info)? Thanks.

i did a 5.3 in my blazer. since you have TBI its easier. Get some motor mount adaptors or build em, get a higher pressure/flow fuel pump than stock (i used one from a 96 vortec SBC truck), redo some of the wiring and hook up the grounds and powers the the PCM and grounds throughout the harness to make things happy, remove vats, and it will run. Its not a super involved process, but its also very easy to have one thing go wrong and it not run as well.

I have some back issues of 4Wheeloffroad that covered a 6.0L swap. It list some specific part numbers that might help. Let me know and I'll dig them up

If you search gen III you will get some hits. There are a couple people on here that know the swap very well.

Yeah, but none of those are on CK5...:deal:
J/K Really good info, esp the Peterson's article, THANKS. :D

I used to be a chronic searcher spending countless hours late nights finding out everything about the burb. I guess I've just gotten lazy. I finally did pull up some results sifting through results of searching for "vortec swap" (duh), but nothing as detailed as I'd hoped for yet. I was just hoping a CK5er had saved a thread address with a detailed swap. Everything has been helpful though, so thanks guys.

Thanks, Ben. Very useful stuff. Do you have any experience or know anyone with experience with GenTech? I noticed they are right around the corner in AJ. Maybe if I'm feeling lazy I could just have them do the swap for me, but I'm sure that'd cost a pretty penny. ;)

If this isn't too much of a PITA I might look into the 6.0 swap. Local yard has a crapload of them, IIR I can get one complete for under a grand or so. 4l80s are getting easier to find, it's since it's TBI already, the previously mentioned wiring shouldn't be bad.....

No I don't unfortunately, I wondered the same when I found them.
