I just installed a "rebuilt" 1989 700r4 that I Purchased from craigslist into my 82 k5.. The shift points are correct and pretty smooth for 1-3..The tv cable is adjusted correctly, but I dont get 4th/OD... I may have installed a bad torque converter, as it doesnt seem to be locking up, and I'm not sure it is for a deisel..

Wonderin if anyone has a torque converter/flexplate around that I could buy/have for a 6.2 diesel? and any idea why I'm not gettin 4th/OD?

There is a pressure switch that screws into the valve body and uses 4th gear oil for activation. If the diaphram is blown out, or worse, if the switch was left out all together, this would give a no fourth/no lockup condition. Also, if the governor shaft is loose at the governor body, it can cause a no fourth condition,it won't effect the other gears to the same extent.

well I guess I'll be droppin the pan this weekend..

Not sure if it will help your issue. But there is a difference in a gas vs. diesel transmission governor.

The diesel governor has heavier weights and stronger springs than the gas governor to produce a lower rpm upshift than the gas governor. All 700 Governors will physically interchange so if you still have the original diesel governor you can put it in a gas transmission for better results.

I'm not sure if the transplant was from a 6.2, but im reasonably sure it was a diesel.. (maybe a 6.5?).. Would that matter?
