when my 6.2 goes out, ill end going with a 6.5. i noticed there wasnt as aftermarket turbo upgrade kits for them. on the banks site they said that the banks turbo is better than any of the 6.5 turbos so why not put the 6.2 banks kit on the 6.5, is it doable? what about other turbos being made to fit on 6.5's? what the most usable hp/tq people have been able to get out of a 6.5?

The Banks turbo may out perform a stock GM set-up. I'm not sure if it would be noticeable though. The downside to the Banks is it has it's own exhaust manifold and intake manifold. I'm not sure if the crossover pipe is the same either. So realistically it's either - or. What I see as the big hindrance to the Banks is it's non-wastegated and the GM turbo is. Once you start pushing for more power you will need a wastegate and as such more fabbing to the Banks. Certainly Banks thought once GM put out a turbo system there no longer was a market for Banks.

As for other turbos yes they can be used but engineering & fabbing skills rises as well. If you want to look into it I suggest looking at The Diesel Page where some people have done it. Possibly at The Diesel Place as well.

For reliable hp/tq numbers I'll leave that to the more knowledgeable :bow:

if you want an upgraded turbo for the 6.5, then get a TE06H and bolt it on. its a wastegated turbo that can make more boost then the gm turbos.

is that just a universal turbo or what is it off of? where can i find it and how much does it run? what kind of boost? any mods to beef up the block to handle it or bolt on and go type deal? thanks

its the stock turbo for the ford 6.9/7.3 IDI engines (non-powerstroke) it will make up to around 15psi, the main difference is the spool up time is much lower because of the wastegate. also the total amount of boost is governed by engine load and how much fuel you are injecting. you can safely run the stock engine, you just cant turn the fuel up as much as if the lower end was beefed up.
