Back when I had CUCVs, I had some dialog with one of the senior mechanics at the local GM dealership asking about timing a 6.2L. As luck would have it, he had a Snap On Timing Meter for this. I knew him well enough he offered to lend it to me. I asked him if he used it much anymore. He said he hasn't used it in a while. Up here in the rust belt, 10 year old vehicles are old and getting rusty. Most of these 6.2 vehicles are around 30 years old. The mechanic offered to sell it to me. I was pretty into CUCVs at the time. So, a deal was struck. That was around seven years ago. I haven't had a CUCV in awhile and found this gathering dust in my garage. It is a nice quality timer for a 6.2L and works well. It comes with the owner's manual and notes here and there from the mechanic on timing a 6.2L. I timed two or three CUCVs with it and had positive results. One of mine was about 15 degrees off if I remember correctly. It really woke that one up. But, basically, the louder these things are, the better they run, lol. So, in the interest of putting a price on this thing, let's say $250.

Would love to have one of these to play around with, but I don't think I'd get $250 worth of usage out of it. I need a rich friend to buy it so I can borrow it periodically. :haha: :rotfl:

Goes halfsies with somebody :). It is a nice and, I am guessing, rare item.

Ugh , I have been wanting one for awhile now . Off to beg mama for some money........

It works on some other stuff but not very common stuff. the 5.7 Olds diesel (IIRC) and any 6.5 mechanically injected.

And price drop to $200.
Does it need the engine running to work?

That's how I did it.
I have a 6.2 that had the ip changed and we can't get it started and i have some others that could use one.
Just trying to see if this tool can help or only can get a better timing once it runs.

I would think that there is a way to get timing in the ball park before the timing meter is set on it. That said, I only used it to dial the timing in when they were already running.

interesting I'm over in Plattsburgh across the lake

If it's still available come mid February I'll be interested in buying, until then I'm stationed in the Middle East right now, that's also why I'm just now able to get back to you

Sure, look me up when you are ready. And thanks for your service. Stay safe over there.

Thank you I appreciate that, on a side note you wouldn't have any leads on a k5 tailgate or parts in our area would you? I've checked most of my local junkyards and there's nothing, wasn't sure if Vermont was any different

I have a new repro tailgate with no internals if that is something you are interested in. The tailgate on the 91 K5 was good but it sold awhile back.
