Hi All!

Does anyone know the injector pressure for the older 6.2 engines?

From what I've dug up, the newer common rail systems see around 20,000 PSI, and I was wondering about the older engines..

Thanks

Tom

I'm not exactly sure, but a coworker of mine who is a diesel mechanic said on the Detroits they usually pop off at about 1000 psi and close back up at about 750 psi. The 6.2 is a Detroit Diesel.

Detroits use a different injector than a 6.2, way different, so thats kind of an apples to oranges thing. I remember reading somewhere its about 2500psi on a pop test stand. That pressure is different on a running engine as cylinder pressures rise so does resistance to injector pressure so it goes up as well. I was told by a Mack tech that that under full boost and full load that injector pressure might get as high (on that truck) 22,000 psi even though the injectors poptested at 2750 psi. Rereading this I hope it makes sense....

I have the flu and am willing to share.....

thank you for the info.. I'm doing some research on injector coking, and looking at the relation to injector pressures and various fuel blends.. it helps to know what is going on with the various setups..
