I’ve never seen a factory 6.2 tach. They’re fairly easy to setup isspro has a 2” piece that pulls from a magnetic pickup on the crank. Easy to install and setup.

Tiny tach is another one.
A piezo pickup on one of your injector lines senses the vibration and sends a signal to the tachometer they provide.

Is is possible to make a factory gas tach work on the 6.2?

If you can generate a pulse then anything is possible.
My tachs read two pulses per revolution and if you can put a magnetic pickup on the balancer or something. You can have them calibrated to anything really.
There is very little information regarding oem tach function on diesel trucks. I'm sorting through it myself the old fashioned way.

The Clevite kid over on The Diesel Page made a gas tach work years ago.
He took a later 6.5 oil pump drive that has a vss output and used it for a signal on his 6.2.
He had to make a circuit to clean up the signal though.

Tiny tach works if you get the clamp tight on the fuel injector line but i sure dont like the crappy digital readout.

I like the idea of a real tach with a needle and dial.

I also have a setup that has the pick up on the alternator.
Never tried it, I wanted to research it first but haven't had the time.

I talked with him. My problem is I'm unsure how to reliably pick up the signal.
