So since the interwebs is full of good and bad info ill ask a trusted source.

#1 will the shorter 6.5 injectors work on my 6.2 or do I want to swap heads on my j code diesel?

#2 Do I need to use the 6.5 injector lines with my swap?

#ay3 what are excessive egts with a turbo set up?

#4 If I keep stuff stock should I swap to 6.5 head gaskets? Ive read the 6.2 heads on some motors have sealing issues after this is done? I will need new head bolts correct?

#5 How do i block off the map port on my 6.5 upper intake?

Thanks

Let's what I can answer for you.

1-82 and some 83 6.2 engines have course thread injectors. All other years 6.2 and 6.5 share the same injector thread pitch and can swap between them.

2-the shorter injector lines should be used but it is do able with the long ones. Just be sure to use all the same type.

3- depends who you ask. There is a couple factors that determine your limit. The turbo is the biggest one. Stock gm turbos create a lot of backpressure which builds a lot of heat. Generally very brief runs to 1000 is OK but I'd keep it below 850 for long pulls. Make sure your cooling system is in good working order and you won't have any issues.

4- you can run either headgasket. I usually just buy a 6.5 gasket kit. Yes new head bolts will be needed. The stock ones are torque to yield which are one time use. You can get head studs fairly cheap and then clamping force is never an issue.

5- the sensor ports can simply be plugged or you can use one for a boost gauge port.
