OK, so ill be testing my CDR valve today to make sure i really need one... but from the oil cloud on startup, the leaking valve cover gaskets, and the leaking oil pan gasket, im thinking its a safe bet.

the rub is that the CDR has been DISCONTINUED by chevy..... seems like kinda a prick move seeing as it causes so many problems when the sucker goes bad. i cant find one anywhere. i finally broke down and called penninsular engines, they build the marine 6.5L diesels, and they said they have them, but they are IN the valvecover........ mine is on a bracket mounted to the intake manifold OVER the valvecover..... so im not sure if its the right one. or if i will just need to buy the valvecovers as well and use the CDR they have.

Anyone here know of a place to buy CDR valves for the old M1009 Blazers with the 6.2L diesel??? im pullin my hair out on this one.

What's the GM Part number?

I'd be surprised if it was discontinued, do the 6.2L HMMWV's not use the same part?

well, apparently the gm part number has been doing a bit of changing around, and the one my local dealership gave me was 12344206, which is discontinued, and they cant find anywhere.

however, i called a dealership down in norfolk virginia, who pulled up, rather quickly a part number of 25042248, which can only be ordered from michigan. its $67 and comes up as a "valve", but i guess under details or something, the guy said it was a "crankcase de-pressurization regulator for '82-'84 6.2L diesels".

mines an '86..... but it should be the same part right? or at least close enough to work. im loosing oil, both burning inside, and leaking outside, and im sure im loosing gas mileage, so id really like to fix this thing if i can. i might just wind up running the hose that goes into the CDR strait into the intake or something if i cant find the valve.

I can't help with the years for it, not at home to check my manual.

However that part number is $34.81 at gmpartsdirect.com

Shipping will be high, but probably still cheaper than most dealers, who are apparently uninterested in keeping customers. Most will charge you list price.

they show up as pcv valves at napa and whatnot. pricey little bastards.
