I noticed the other day when starting the truck that there was a miss while the starter was engaged like I am missing some teeth on my flexplate. This morning it cranked over to that spot and then let loose and will not crank over. I am pretty sure it in on the flexplate and not the starter.

Is it a pretty easy job replacing the flexplate? I assume just seperate the bellhousing from the engine? Any tricks i should know about? Also does anyone have a flexplate for sale?

Thanks

700R4 or TH400? I have an extra 700R4 flexplate from a 6.2L.

Last time I replaced one I just put in two long bolts to use as a guide when sliding the transmission back. I didn't even need to drop the transmission to the ground.

I do the same unbolt tranny and slide back
I too have flexplates for either tranny

Its the 700R4. How much do you want for the flexplate? So I just need unmount the trans from the crossmember, remove the drive shaft and remove the bolts from the housing and put in a few longer ones to act as guides to slide the trans back? That sounds alot easier than dropping the whole trans from the truck.

I think I was asking $5 plus shipping last time I had it up for sale...

Yes, pretty easy to do if you just slide the tranny back and don't drop it out all the way. You will need to tilt the motor/tranny down at the rear so it clears the body as you slide it back is all.

I had a little bit of a problem... I couldn't find the flexplate when I went to put it in a box. :doah: I sent you a refund.

I had it... been tripping over it for about a year. It is easy to keep track of my extra parts with a small garage. Unfortunately, I must have got tired of looking at it when I couldn't give it away 6 months ago and tossed it in the last load of scrap metal when I was cleaning up.

Thanks for the refund Kenny.

Icemann let me know if you find it. I was hoping to get this done this weekend so I could leave my GTO in hybernation for a few more weeks, but she might have to come out a little early.

It is going to be differnet going from A vehicle twice the weight with 140HP to a vehicle half the weight and 400HP.
