Hey all, im having another moment with my diesel that unnervingly reminds me im still learning about it. In reading an article about upgrading the reliability of the 6.5L and they mention a thing called a crankcase depression regulator (CDR) that should be replaced every 60k miles. So as i sit here, and really think about how poorly taken care of my truck was before i bought it, i am suddenly worried about what all "normal maintanence" items need attention that i dont even know about.

This is highlighted by the fact that my truck has started blowing white smoke after its been sitting for a bit.

SO im wondering if i can get a heads up on the stuff that needs to be taken care of on a regular basis on the 6.2L

i know im close to needing to redo the injection pump, injectors, and fix an oil pan leak.

ive already replaced the radiator (battery came lose wheelin and took out the old one), fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, ran diesel fuel treatment through it several times (not in rapid succession), other than that, i really dunno if theres something important i should be doing.

Definitely replace the CDR. It is probably a Delco CV870 or CV871. They run about $40.00. Do this BEFORE you do your oil pan gasket.

thanks for the suggestion, ill be swinging by the local shop to get the CDR, anything else you can think of would also be greatly appriciated.

feel free to talk to me like im 4 to make sure everythings covered ;)

don't forget to replace the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires:haha:

where do i find all those on the engine?

just kidding.:wink1: although i do have fun showing people my invisible carb, it really is funny how many people cant figure out how it runs without a carb.
