After fighting to remove the lower alternator bolt that broke off in my head, the Snap-On bolt extractor managed to get a very good grip and cracked my head before the bolt started turning :doah: Not bad enough that it will affect the motor running, but I won't be able to put a bolt back in that hole again.

I am wondering if the serpentine system from a 6.5L would not use that hole?

heli-coil would be cheaper/easier...you can double them up if needed. :waytogo:

Heli-coil won't work. The head is cracked from the hole out. There is no structure left to hold anything in that location.

I guess if I need to use that bolt hole location, I can always swap sides on the heads and put in ARP studs while I am in there...

If you go serpentine, the alternator goes over to the driver's side.

The serpentine AC compressor is then on the passenger side, and uses the bolt hole in the head that you're referring to (most outboard), plus an inboard head hole and yet a third one on the block itself. If you don't have/want/need AC, you can get a delete pulley that only uses two holes...but I'm not sure which two of the three it uses :dunno:

I have the A/C delete pulley on my 6.2l from a '93 Serp Setup. I can get a pic tomorrow on how it mounts on pass side.

I would love to see some pics of Serp conversions on 6.2s looking to do this on mine too. I have no A/C either.

Bringing up an old thread, but does the serpentine crank pulley bolt to the 6.2 balancer? I found a 1995 serpentine setup and I am trying to get my checklist in order.

Yes the pulley whether for v-belts or serpentine bolts to the balancer. While you have it apart you should change the balancer too.
