Alright a good friend of mine has a 98 chevy 2500 with a 6.5 diesel did an oil change on it a week ago and he called me today sayin it didnt sound right and was white smokin like an sob well i pulled the dip stick and the oil was super thick (Rotella T 15-40) and over full. the antifreeze overflow also has oil in it. So im thinkin oil cooler but why would it white smoke and sound not so healthy still has all the power it had before. Could the motor have some issues had just under 40 pounds of oil pressure idling in the driveway. just doesnt sound right anymore. Head gasket maybe???

Good news:
Sounds like a head gasket to me. It all depends on where it pushes out. You could end up with oil in your coolant, coolant in your oil, coolant in your combustion, combustion (pressure) in your coolant, in your crankcase, or any combination thereof, and none of those will affect your oil pressure.
Bad news:
It could also be a cracked head, and the 6.5 turbo diesel is KNOWN for cracking heads.

Well thanks I think he is gonna get a quote on how much to tear into it tommorow hopefully its just the gasket but with his luck its cracked thanks

Coolant in the oil can also damage bearings. And eat up turbo bearings if its turbocharged.

Be sure that they flush the radiator really well. Along with the rest of the cooling system. It only takes a tiny coating of oil in the radiator to cut its effectiveness by huge amount.

check check on that..... run mixture of water and calgon in the rad. run up to temp. dump. refill. run to temp. dump. do this over and over until the flush water comes out clean.

yeah the oil in the radiator is no good our tool truck at work has that going on right now my boss got the radiator flushed and it didnt really do much and he wont do anything about it either says antifreeze is expensive. when there was alot of oil in there it would peg the temp guage going down the road. Now that it got flushed still runs hot but cooled down some.

yeah I understand antifreeze eats bearings hopefully it didnt this truck has turned into a bit of a boat anchor its needed nothing but work since he got it
