There are no real performance advantages - the center/rear turbo setup was done for fitment in vans and HMMWV's.
If you're putting the turbo in a pickup/Blazer/Burb, I'd probably pass on the turbo HMMWV/van setup. The heads, intakes, injector lines, exhaust, and oil feed/return system are all unique. You'll also have interference issues with your firewall.
