I was gonna cut holes in my K5's doors in order to put in 6.5 inch speakers until I found out I can't because I think there is no where to cut a hole in the door with power windows and doors? I'm not sure if i'm right though. Is there anyone who has a design to get the speakers on or in the door or somewhere else in the cab area? Post pics if possible. Thanks...

I put some speakers in the bedsides, just behind the front seats. In the cardboard pannel. I couldn't hear the stock 4x10's way in the back. The ones in the dash were good for the highs, but not for the rest. I'll post some pics tomarow when it's light out. You might also want to check the audio forum.

I put 5-1/4" in my front doors and had to put spacers under them to keep the magnet out of the window regulator. Don't know how you would fit 6-1/2". I built a console to hold mine. Same pics as dick septic's thread.

I recommend building a simple pod to mount them out away from the door with an angle up to the listening area. I really dislike my 6.5" speakers in the door, there is just no clarity and a lot of muffling when you are seated.

Or you could go with LMC's kick panel replacements and mount good speakers in them, but either way, I wouldn't cut the doors to mount them.

Agreed, you can hardly hear them down there in the door. Only reason I put them there was because the holes were already there from the previous owner.

Here's how I mounted mine in the bedside. Not the best picture, but you get the idea.

search for the thread someone did about building kicker panel speaker mounts that angle the speaker toward you. those were SLICK!

my buddy mounted his speakers in the kick panel - but didn't build anything to angle them outward. it worked fine.
